April 1 – June 30, 2019
Registration for ENABLE 2019 in Nijmegen is open!
The registration fee will be 110€ for early birds and 140€ afterwards. This fee includes participation to the conference, workshops, career chats, as well as the dinner with the speakers on Thursday.
Poster and short talk applications
During the event in Nijmegen, we want to give as many participants as possible the chance to present their research to their peers, the invited speakers, and the public.
Every participant is expected to submit a scientific abstract of their work (or planned work in the case of first year PhD students) of maximum 300 words. During the registration process, you can choose to just present a poster or also apply for a scientific talk. We will then select and notify the speakers in October. All the submitted abstracts will be included in the abstract list that will be available through the conference app.
There will be prizes awarded for the best posters and short talks.
Guidelines for abstract submission.
- Abstracts must be submitted in English.
- Each registrant can submit only one abstract for evaluation.
- No changes to the abstract will be considered after submission.
- Abstracts should be at max. 300 words, and may not include line breaks or pictures.
Due to the support of our generous sponsors, last year we managed to award more than 50 travel grants to participants. Travel grants cover your registration fee and expenses such as travel/accommodation/poster printing/food of up to 250€. To apply, in addition to your scientific abstract, after the registration you will have to provide us with a brief motivation statement (max. 250 words) by sending it via email to this address: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make sure to use the same email address which you used to register.
The deadline for travel grant application is June 30th. Selected participants will be notified by July 31st by email.
An important part of the ENABLE symposium are the outreach activities that will take place. We are organizing pub talks in several pubs across Nijmegen. If you wish to present your research to a general audience in an informal and relaxed environment, we invite you to participate!
A pub talk is a 10-minute talk in a bar for the general public, who don’t have a scientific background. Part of the challenge and fun of this presentation format is to show your research in a way that non-scientists can understand it. If you would like to share your work with the public, you will have to submit a dedicated abstract of max. 250 words which describes your work in layman’s terms to make sure the public audience can follow. Please send us your abstract via email to this address email@example.com and use the same email address which you used to register.
Talks can be given in English or Dutch. Don’t be afraid, and enjoy talking science over a beer!
We will make sure to allow as many applicants to present their work as possible but might have to select depending on the number of applicants. Selected candidates will be sent an e-mail by October 2019.
During ENABLE 2019, you will get the chance to participate in workshops and career chats. Workshops feature intense training sessions with a dedicated professional, where you can expand your skill set needed for climbing the academic or industrial career ladder. In career chats, you will have the possibility to discuss career paths with academic and industrial professionals in a small group setting.
During the registration process, we will ask you to select the workshops your are interested in and will then try to allow everybody to attend their preferred workshop. The workshops take place in the morning and afternoon in parallel to the rest of the career program. Thus, it’s possible that you miss part of the alternative program.
Food during the event
Lunch and coffee breaks during the event, as well as the conference dinner with the speakers on Thursday are included in the registration fee.
